Howard Tenens Logistics’ Swindon Site Raises Over £7,000 for Swindon Town FC Community Foundation

We are delighted to announce that our Swindon site has successfully raised over £7,000 this summer through a series of engaging activities, including a remarkable 24-hour bike ride. This achievement was part of their 10-week sports inclusivity games programme. The programme encouraged colleagues from various departments to participate in a range of games, all striving for the top spot on the leader board.

Our Swindon Site Manager, Andy Drury, had the honour of presenting a cheque for over £7,000 to the Swindon Town FC Community Foundation. These funds will significantly contribute to the Foundation’s outstanding efforts in the areas of Health, Social Inclusion, Sports Participation, and Education.

Andy Drury, Site Manager, expressed his pride in the team’s efforts:

“I could not be prouder of the support and effort from everyone across the site here in Swindon. It has been nothing short of incredible and for such a worthy cause.”

The donation will be instrumental in supporting the Foundation’s social inclusion work, including the Zambia Community Programme, which has facilitated the shipment of over 60 boxes of donations from Swindon to Livingstone in Zambia.

The Community Foundation delivers a variety of projects weekly for over 3000 participants across Swindon and Wiltshire, focusing on Health, Social Inclusion, Participation, and Education. Notably, a team of staff will be heading to Zambia to work with the local community on November 16th.

Looking ahead, the Foundation aims to continue offering activities to participants of all ages and abilities, with a particular focus on reaching communities in the more deprived areas of Swindon. Additionally, there are plans to develop a programme for Ukrainian refugees in Swindon over the next 12 months.

The Community Foundation is always seeking volunteers to support their community work. Opportunities are available within the Foundation Park facility and programmes such as Memory Cafés and the expanding disability provision.

Shane Hewlett, Head of Foundation, expressed his gratitude:

“I can’t thank Howard Tenens Logistics staff enough for their amazing donation towards our Social Inclusion Programme. This funding will support not only participants from across Swindon but also our Community Project in Livingstone, Zambia.”

We are proud of the contributions made by our Swindon site and colleagues. We celebrate the success of this fundraising initiative and the positive impact it will have on the Swindon Town FC Community Foundation’s programmes.
