Our First Colleague to Complete the Warehouse Manager CPC qualification

In 2024, the UK Warehousing Association introduced the Warehouse Manager CPC, a new, independently accredited qualification set to become a benchmark in the industry, comparable to the Transport Manager CPC.

This course is designed for experienced managers and supervisors in warehouse operations, as well as those looking to advance their careers. It equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to excel in modern warehouse management.

The programme combines theoretical preparation for the CPC exams with practical insights into essential topics such as lean processes, safety and security, resource planning, IT systems, material handling equipment (MHE) and automation, storage mediums, performance metrics, environmental considerations, and financial awareness.

We are dedicated to the professional growth and development of our team members. By supporting their educational pursuits, we ensure that our workforce is equipped with the latest skills and knowledge to excel in their roles. Our shining example of this commitment is Becky Chester-Watts, Team Manager at Swindon, who recently volunteered for the Warehouse Manager CPC course. Aligning her participation with her Employee Development Plan, Becky shared her inspiring experience:

“I was truly honoured to be the first at Howard Tenens Logistics to undertake the Warehouse Manager CPC. As only the second cohort to complete this UKWA course, I was initially apprehensive—it had been over 20 years since I’d engaged in classroom learning, and this was an intensive two-week program with both a case study exam and a multiple-choice test!

On day one, I found myself among five strangers, uncertain of what to expect. By the end, we had not only gained knowledge but also formed strong connections. The course covered everything from warehousing fundamentals to health and safety, HR, environmental factors, and even future trends in the industry. Sharing best practices with participants from other companies was particularly valuable—it was eye-opening to discover how many challenges, like managing limited space, are universal.

One standout moment came during a mock case study when the group rallied around a participant struggling with a maths problem. That collaboration embodied the supportive environment of the course.

Despite initial nerves, I’m thrilled to have achieved 100% on my case study and 35/40 on the multiple-choice test. This accomplishment has strengthened my confidence and reinforced my pride in representing Howard Tenens Logistics positively. I highly recommend this course to anyone in warehousing or logistics management—it’s engaging, practical, and helps you build on your existing knowledge.” Becky Chester-Watts, Team Manager.

Congratulations to Becky on this fantastic achievement and her dedication to professional growth. We look forward to seeing more of our team embrace similar opportunities as we advance into 2025.
